Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has extended financial assistance to 303 mandaps at Kotalipara in Gopalganj marking the Durga Puja.
The assistance was given from her personal fund on the occasion of the biggest religious festival of Hindus.
Kotalipara AL leaders started giving assistances to puja mandap through handing over the grant to upazila central puja mandap’s president Krishna Chandra Dey.
Kotalipara AL president Bhabendranath Biswash, general secretary Ainal Hossain Sheikh, vice presidents Manindranath Halder, Golam Kibria Daria and Krishna Prasad Mazumder, organizing secretaries Kamrul Islam Badal and Ruhul Amin Khan, AL leaders Kabirul Islam Runy, Mazharul Alam Panna, Atiquzzaman Khan Badal and Mizanur Rahman Bulbul, Municipality AL general secretary Sohrab Hossain Hazra, Shwechchasebak League leader Bablu Hazra, Jubo League leaders Bulbul Ahmed Hazra, among others, were present.
Before handing over the assistance, a meeting was held where Kotalipara municipality mayor M Kamal Hossain Sheikh, former mayor HM Ahidul Islam, upazila AL joint general secretary Aminuzzaman Khan Milon, organising secretary Motiar Rahman Hazra addressed the occasion.
Kotalipara AL president Bhabendranath Biswash said the mother Durga steps into the earth every year ushering a new hope.
He wishes that mother Durga will grant Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a long life annihilating all enemies.
Some 500 kgs of rice has also been allocated for each puja mandap from the government while AL leaders have handed over financial assistances to puja mandaps in person, he said.
Upazila AL organising secretary Kamrul Islam Badal said rule of mother of humanity Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is marked with communal harmony and celebration of religious festivities by people from all theological backgrounds.
“We, the Kotalipara people, are wishing our beloved leader a long life,” he said.
Kushla Union Parishad chairman Kamrul Islam Badal, Pijuri Union Parishad chairman Abu Sayeed Sikder, Kolabari Union Parishad chairman Michael Ojha, Amtoli Union Parishad chairman Hannan Sheikh, Ramshil Union Parishad chairman Khokon Bala, Radhaganj Union Parishad chairman Amrita Lal Halder, district council member Majharul Alam Panna, and Shuagram union AL general secretary Jogeshwar Baidya Anup, among others, also distributed financial assistance to puja mandaps.
