Bangladesh spinner Nasum Ahmed admitted on Thursday that he is yet to understand the importance of ICC player of the month award.
Bangladesh left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed has been nominated for the ICC player of the month award for September 2021 along with Nepal leggie Sandeep Lamichhane and USA’s power-hitter Jaskaran Malhotra.
The 26-year old Nasum was Bangladesh’s star performer in their home T20I series against New Zealand, leaving the visitors bamboozled with his accurate line and length.
He picked up eight wickets in the series with a sensational performance of 4-10 in the fourth match. His exploits helped the hosts to emerge victorious with a margin of 3-2 against the visitors which was also their maiden T20 series win over the Kiwis.
Earlier, Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim won the ICC player of the month award in July and May this year respectively.
‘’Actually I did not know about the matter( getting nominated as ICC player of the month) and I all only came to know after going to the hotel following the practice session yesterday,’’ Nasum was quoted
‘’I don't even understand what the thing is and I have talked with Mushfiqur Bhai and asked him regarding the matter (nomination),’’ he said.
‘’He informed that I have been nominated and now everyone will vote me and then if I get most votes, I will become Player of the Month,’’ he said.
