Pilot concedes massive defeat in BCB election

Existing BCB Director and Pabna District councillor Saiful Alam Swapon Chowdhury defeated former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mashud Pilot in the BCB Election, held in the capital on Wednesday.

Swapon won the election by 7-2 votes against his rival in the Rajshahi Division subcategory.

Pilot, the Rajshahi Division councillor, accepted his defeat and wished Swapon for his new journey in the BCB. He also thanked his councillors from Rajshahi Zone and hoped for the best for Bangladesh and Rajshahi cricket.

“First of all, I want to thank my councillors. Maybe my opponent candidate was more worthy and that’s why he (Swapon) got more votes,” Pilot told reporters in the evening.

“I hope Rajshahi and Bangladesh cricket will be served well through him. Maybe I have joined the election with a dream but they may have trusted him more so they voted for him,” he added.

Earlier the voting of the much-talked seventh Bangladesh Cricket Board Directors’ Election began at 10:00am and it ran until 05:00pm on Wednesday amid a pleasant environment at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the capital.

The voters were able to cast their vote physically as well as by postal ballot and E-vote.
