Bangladesh on Sunday reported 18 more fatalities from coronavirus or Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

In addition, 617 coronavirus infections were registered during this period.

The cases were detected after testing 21,246 samples at different laboratories across the country. The daily positivity rate now stands at 2.90 percent.

With the new fatalities, the total number of deaths now stands at 27,573.

Besides, the total number of infections as of now is recorded at 1,557,964.

A press statement signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), revealed this information on Sunday afternoon (October 3).

Earlier on Saturday, Covid-19 claimed  24 deaths and  589 infections.
