The number of dengue infected patients and fatality has declined slightly in the last 24 hours during the last 24 hours on Thursday morning.

Infection cases declined to below 200 and no death was reported during the time.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 190 more dengue patients were hospitalized and no death was reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.

It said 7,841 dengue patients were hospitalised in September, 7,698 dengue patients in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in the last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August and 21 in September, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 149 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 41 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am on Thursday.

A total of 756 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 204 outside the city, it said.

The number of death from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 67 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.

The unofficial sources from different hospitals said at least 80 people, who were infected with dengue, died in the country this year.

A total of 18,197 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country including in Dhaka city since January until September 30 this year.

So far, 17,170 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
