All the successes and achievements of this country have come at the hands of her," he said.

The minister said this while addressing a discussion organised by Bangladesh Awami League on the occasion of 'The 75th Birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina' at Agargaon in the capital.

Bangladesh has evolved from a low income country to a developing country as she has elevated the country to a unique height in the world arena with dignity and respect, he said.

Later, the minister also addressed a meeting on reviewing the progress of implementation of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) online from the office room of the secretariat this afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted that the country has produced record rice.

Both total production and productivity have increased, he said, adding that despite all these successes, rice has to be imported.

Population is increasing while cultivable land is decreasing, he noted.

"In this case, we have to have way, how production will increase," he added.

He urged all concerned to spread newly invented varieties of paddy, which are more productive, to the farmers quickly for rapid production in the country.

The minister further said that onion production has improved this year and prices remain stable.

Production will have to increase further next year, he added.

At the same time, all have to ensure fair price of onion to the farmers as imports from India will be stopped during the onion-loaded season.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md Mesbahul Islam conducted the meeting.
