Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has taken an initiative to shut all unregistered online news portals of the country.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar came up with this information on Tuesday (September 28).

Mustafa Jabbar said, “There is High Court order to close unregistered news portals. According to the court verdict, we are preparing lists of unregistered portals in order to shut those.”

If any mistake is occurred during shutdown of the portals, the owners of the unregistered news portals can submit all necessary documents to BTRC for registration, the minister added.

BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder said the process of shutting down unregistered news portals has begun.
