Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, known as the friend of former Indian captain and current BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly, said on Monday that he would like to utilize the good relationship with BCCI boss to have a strong hold in global cricket politics.
Mithu , who was dubbed as an aspirant cricketer but later came to the limelight after turning his focus as an organizer, submitted his nomination from category 2 for the upcoming BCB election, slated on October 6..
Mithu then went to Kolkata and signed an agreement but Sourav did not play for Gulshan during that time but since then the duo became friends and it only grew stronger with passing days.
"Like many of you journalists, he has been my friend for a long days and he is also aware that I am going to contest in BCB election and he wished me as well,’’ said Mithu.
"No matter how friendly we are but there is a formality. But as a friend he can help me in some faculties. He is the President of BCCI. And whether I am elected or not, he will always maintain relationship with Bangladesh cricket. He sees Bangladesh cricket differently,’’ he said adding that though he was not part of BCB in the last two terms he is very much involved with cricket.
"Although I had never been a director but I have been involved with Bangladesh since 1990. I was not involved with the board last five years but I was involved with cricket with CWAB and other sectors,’’ he said.
‘’I have been playing the first division since the 80's, and I have been in Bangladesh cricket since then. I will try to use the experience I have gained so many days,’’ he said.
In category-2 where total 17 councilors from Dhaka Clubs have submitted nomination forms for the 12 directors post as Today (Monday) was the final day to submit nomination form for election which is scheduled to be held on October 6.
