Alamgir promises international cricket in Barishal

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Barishal Divisional representative Alamgir Khan said on Monday that he is eyeing to bring international cricket in his division.

Alamgir is elected as a director as there is no rival against him in the next election as only one person submitted the nomination paper on Monday at home of cricket.

“I am expecting uncontested win in the upcoming BCB election. Barishal is a land of river. There was no development before my tenure. There was no competitive cricket in Barishal. After being elected as director of BCB I requested BCB Chief Nazmul Hossain Papon to give some local and international cricket here. BCB President accepted my proposal and gave all the facilities to arrange an international cricket at Barishal Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat Stadium.”  Alamgir told reporters on Monday after submitting his nomination form at BCB headquarter in Mirpur.

“Barishal hosted its first international match in my term. Sri Lanka U 19 cricket team visited here. We also got a 3 star hotel to arrange more international fixtures here. All the facilities are here now. I will work my best for the cricket development of Barishal Division,’’ he said.

Barishal Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat Stadium hosted its first ever international cricket match when Bangladesh U-19 cricket team took part tourists Sri Lanka U 19 side in a four-day match last year in October.
