Two more died of dengue and 214 were hospitalised in the country during the last 24 hours till Monday.

The number of dengue fatality has been increasing day by day in the country while the number of patients hospitalised with the disease has crossed 17.5 thousand here.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 214 more dengue patients were hospitalised and two deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.

It said 7,215 dengue patients were hospitalised in September, 7,698 dengue patients in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in last month July, 34 dengue patients died in the last month August and 17 in September, the health directorate data added.

The DGHS said 163 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 51 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday.

A total of 758 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 231 outside the city, it said.

The number of death from the dengue disease also has been increasing day by day as a total of 63 deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.

The unofficial sources from different hospitals said at least 75 people, who were infected with dengue, died in the country this year.

A total of 17,571 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country including in Dhaka city since January until September 27 this year.

So far, 16,519 dengue patients have been released from hospitals after recovery, the DGHS report said.
