A day-long seminar titled ''Sheikh Hasina: Leadership, Humanity & Farsightedness'' was held at National Press Club in the Capital on Monday.

Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum organized the seminar marking PM Sheikh Hasina’s 75th birthday around 10.00 am.

Bangladesh state minister of planning Professor Dr. Samsul Alam addressed the seminar as chief guest while Bangladesh Columnist Forum Convener and Jagannath University Ex-VC Professor Dr Mijanur Rahman presided over the seninar.

Bangladesh Islamic University former Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Rashid Askari presented the key-note paper on PM Sheikh Hasina’s Leadership, Humanity and Farsightedness while Bangladesh Columnist forum member secretary Professor Milton Biswas conducted the programme.

Former IGP and Columnist A K M Shahidul Haque, Rabindra University Ex-VC Professor Dr Biswajit Ghosh, JnU Treasurer  Professor Dr Kamaluddin Ahmed, Daily Jugantor editor and former National Press Club President Saiful Alam, Samprity Bangladesh Member Secretary Mamun Al Mahtab were present as the special guest at seminar.

Dr Rashid Askari said ''Sheikh Hasina is now the paramount leader of Bangladesh. Bangabandgu has given us independence and Sheikh Hasina is giving progress and prosperity. Bangladesh is thriving in all respect under her leadership.”

Prof Shamsul Alam, state minister for planning, said the government had adopted several policy actions to advocate for the rights of women to attain the SDG-5.

Some key challenges include eradicating violence against women and inequalities in opportunity, preventing child marriage, and promoting financial empowerment of women, he said.

Highlighting the many steps taken by the government to achieve the SDGs, he said, "In our five-year plans, we emphasised job creation the most to accelerate GDP growth."

“The way development activities are going on in the country, the word “poverty” will not remain by 2041 and then this word will be recorded in the book of history. All sorts of development activities are going in the country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to turn Bangladesh into a corruption-free country,” he said.
