A man was killed and another injured after a covered van hit a pick-up van in capital’s Mohakhali early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossain (32), an employee of New Ma Motors shop in Dholaikhal area, son of Abdul Jalil of Senbagh upazila in Noakhali.

Ismail used to live at a mess in Dhaka.

Injured Mohammad Johnny, 30, is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The covered van hit the pick-up van carrying Ismail and Johnny when they were returning to Dhaka by the van after delivering products in Mymensingh around 4:30am in the area.

Pedestrians took them to DMCH where doctors declared Ismail dead around 5:30am.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
