A bank official was found dead next to a nine-storey building in Modhya Basabo area of Dhaka's Sabujbagh on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Shawkat Hossain Fakir (33), a senior officer of a private bank's branch in Dhaka's Fakirerpool area, son of late Abul Hossain of Jamalpur village of Gazipur.
Pedestrian Tawfique Hossain said he spotted the man lying in a pool of blood near the building around 10:00am and informed family members.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 11:15am.
Mahmuda Sultana, elder sister of deceased said, “We are suspecting that he commited suicide by jumping from the building”.
Confirming the news, Muradul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sabujbagh Police Station, said the real cause of his death could not be known yet but the matter is being investigated.
The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy, he said.
