Derailment halts Dhaka’s rail link with North, West

Train communication of Dhaka with northern and western region of the country remained suspended following a derailment of the engine of ‘Rangpur Express’ in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj on Sunday afternoon.
Ullapara railway station master Rafiqul Islam said, the engine of the Rangpur-bound train which was coming from Dhaka veered-off the track near the bridge No. 32 between Ullapara and Lahiri Mohanpur Stations on Sirajganj-Ishwardi railway line this afternoon.
The train communication is expected to be normal after a salvage train from Ishwardi Railway Station rescued the train, he added.
