Both Najmul Hossain and Shadman Islam shone with the bat as Bangladesh A team made a decent start on the opening day of the first four-day match against BCB High Performance Unit at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.
Najmul struck 96 off 203 balls while Shadman made 58 off 133 balls as Bangladesh A team ended the first day’s play on 260-5 in 90 overs after they were sent to bat first.
Mohammad Mithun, who is leading Bangladesh A team in the absence of Mominul Haque, was soon run out on nine while Yasir Ali was removed on 21 by pacer Rejaur Rahman.
Najmul, who struck eight fours and three sixes in the innings, was well on course of completing his hundred but he fell four runs short of reaching the three-digit figure after part-timer Mahmudul Hasan got him out.
Irfan Sukkur and Munim Shahriar remained not out on 28 and 15 runs respectively as they will resume their innings today on the second day of the match.
