58 gold bars worth Tk4.5 crore seized from Shohagh Paribahan

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) has seized 56 gold bars worth Tk 4.5 crore from a Satkhira-bound bus of Shohagh Paribahan.
Three persons--bus driver Shahaday Hossain, his assistant Ibrahim and supervisor Taikul Islam-- were detained from from Malibagh area in the capital during the drive.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate's Director General Md Abdur Rauf revealed the information at a press conference held at IDEB Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday morning.

The gold bars, came from Dubai, have been smuggling to a neighbouring country using Bangladesh as a transit, he said.
Abdur Rauf said after getting secret information, the Customs officials conducted a search at a Shohagh Paribahan bus in Dhaka's Malibag area and found the gold bars under the seat of the driver.
The recovered gold bars are from eight companies. Processing to file a case under the Customs Act is undergoing, he added.
