Bangladesh national football team will start their Three Nations Cup campaign on Sunday as they will take on strong Palestine in their first match of the ongoing tournament at Dolen Omuzakov Stadium in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The match kicks off at 8:30pm (BST).

Bangladesh are ready to tackle Palestine applying their newly planned tactics and formations during the upcoming matches. Head coach Jamie Day discussed his plans with the boys during the practice session but didn’t disclose plans to the media. Jamie also highlighted that he might change tactics in all three games to see if players are capable of playing his ways.

“We might try different tactics, formations in the three games to see if we have an option before going to the SAFF Championship. I will change my persona, so everyone gets some game time during the match,” Jamie told the reporters on Saturday.

Jamie normally relies on 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 formations and plays a defencive approach. There is a high possibility that he might try to ball possession against Palestine and the technically good Kyrgyzstan.

Jamie also might change his playing eleven in all three matches, so that all players get enough game time that will help him to select his best players for the upcoming SAFF Championship.

“All players will play one game over the three, so everyone gets a chance to have experience of international football that’s why we are having this game. Four players (newcomers) will also get an opportunity, but it might not be tomorrow. Definitely, they will play in some stages,” he said.

“Boys have trained very well in the last 3 or 4 days. Everyone is quite fit. We know Palestine are a big side after watching their game. They are a very good, powerful and strong team. It’s gonna be a difficult game for us, they are ranked 86 above us. So, it is gonna be a good test for the players,” he further said.

Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuyan said that they are going to apply a ‘new idea’ against Palestine during the match, though he also concealed the plans as Jamie.

“We have seen the strengths and weaknesses of Palestine. We will try a new idea in the game. If it proves good, later we will continue it,” Jamal said.

“These matches against Palestine and Kyrgyzstan are preparations for us before going to the SAFF contest. We don’t have enough time for the preparations, we have less than one month. So we have to work on our tactics and areas for improvements,” Bangladesh captain said.

The 188th ranked Bangladesh played five international matches against the 102 ranked Palestine. The first match between two teams ended in a 1-1 draw in 2006 while the men in red and green conceded 2-0, 1-0, 2-0 2-0 defeats in the last four matches in 2011, 2013, 2018 and 2020.
