Bangladesh national archers will take part in the upcoming Archery World Championships with an aim to improve their rankings.

The competition, which is the pre-ultimate event of the ongoing international season, is scheduled to be held from September 19 to 26 in Yankton, USA.

A total of six Bangladeshi archers are expected to compete in four events -- recurve men individuals, recurve men teams, recurve women individuals, and compound men individuals.

Archers are Ruman Shana, Diya Siddique, Ram Krishna Saha, Beauty Ray, Mohammad Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ashim Kumer Das.

Shana and Diya, who represented Bangladesh in Tokyo Olympics last July, are currently 23rd and 125th in the men’s and women’s recurve rankings.

Among others, Ram Krishna 131st and Rubel 156th in men’s recurve, Beauty 142nd in women’s recurve and Asim 107th in compound men rankings.

“We are going to compete in the USA for the first time. Our first target will be to improve individual rankings there. So, we have to finish at the top of the events to do that,” archery assistant coach Ziaul Haque told The Daily Sun.

The archers are currently at the camp in Tongi. They are expected to leave for the USA on September 16 or 17.
