The relief was distributed marking the “National Mourning Day” commemorating the martyrdoms of Bangabandhu and most of his family members

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd, the leading sports club in the country, distributed relief items among unemployed and distressed people in Manikganj for the second consecutive day on Monday.

The relief was distributed under the guidance and financial support of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd Chairman and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd came up with relief operation at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj, marking the “National Mourning Day” commemorating the martyrdoms of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members.

A number of 1,500 helpless and insolvent people received the relief at Golam Mohiuddin Kamal Adarsh High School premises at Harirampurupazila under the district. Each people representing his/her family got 10kg rice, 3kg lentil and 3kg flour under the relief package.

In addition to this, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd distributed study materials among students of Golam Mohiuddin Kamal Adarsh High School.

Jubo League presidium member and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd director Dr Sajjad Haider attended the relief distribution programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sajjad Haider said “Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd is continuing relief operation in aid of destitute and corona-hit people across the country. Accordingly, the sports club disbursed food items among 3,000 ultra-poor people at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj on Sunday. Besides, relief was distributed among 1,500 people at Harirampur upazila today (Monday). The relief distribution will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) also.”

Manikganj district Awami League president advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra permanent members Aminul Islam and Md Maruf Kazi, district Awami League joint secretary Advocate Badrul Islam Khan Bablu, Kazi Enayet Hossain Tipu, organising secretary Tayebur Rahman Tipu, Aminur Islam Mantu, and former district Chhatra League president Rafikul Islam Rana were present.

District Jubo League joint convenor Mahbubur Rahman Jony moderated the relief distribution programme which aimed at helping the people of Manikganj worst affected by river erosion and pandemic.

Zhorna Begum, one of the recipients of relief, said she along with family members are starving for lack of food amid Covid-19 pandemic and the relief distributed by Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd is of great help.

Praying for welfare of Sayem Sobhan Anvir, she said “The relief will meet our family’s demand for food for 15 days. May Allah grant Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd Chairman and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir a long life so that he can stand by poor and destitute.”

Like Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, his son Sayem Sobhan Anvir is moved by the sufferings of the poor and destitute, she opined.

Hailing from Jatrapur village of Balla union, Lutfa Begum rejoiced the relief and prayed for welfare of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd Chairman and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

“There are many wealthy people in our village but they do not help us. Sayem Sobhan Anvir has given us a large packet full of food items. We pray for his more prospects in life.”
