Rakib Al Hasan has become the first Bangladeshi youth to win the Outstanding Young Leader of Asia 2021 award for his leading role in promoting the health and rights of children in the post-Covid world, as well as for ensuring children’s and women’s rights, education, health, democracy and peace internationally.
Rakib, a final-year medical student of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, is an author and activist, who will receive the award from the Asian Youth Council, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Asian Youth Council named the 10 outstanding youth leaders on the occasion of the International Youth Day on August 12 after a three-month selection process. The winners will be presented certificates, crests, and medals at the council’s forthcoming conference, once the pandemic situation improves.
In addition, he will have the opportunity to make a fully-funded tour in 48 Asian countries and actively participate in various international projects, conferences, seminars, and development activities of the Asian Youth Council.
“I am happy to do my part successfully. The award will help me bring more successes for the nations in the future,” the Bangladeshi youth leader Rakib told The Daily Sun in an immediate reaction.
He has already published seven books and made headlines on and covers of various international newspapers and magazines.
Earlier, Rakib received the Global Youth Leadership Award 2019. He represented Bangladesh at a 2019 summit in China, marking 70 years of China’s independence. He also attended the International Volunteer Forum of Islamic Countries in Azerbaijan last year.
