“We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone,” said Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th president of the United States.
Encouraged by Reagan’s statement, Bashundhara Group and Kaler Kantho’s social organisation Shuvasangha are reaching out to the poor people in various parts of the country with relief items.
In Gomastapur upazila, 450 distressed families received relief from Bashundhara Group at Rohanpur AB Govt High School and Rohanpur union parishad compounds. Each family got 10kg rice, 3kg lentil and 3kg flour.
Kamrunnesa Begum, an elderly woman of the area, expressed happiness with the relief. “I have no relative to support. However, I live in my paternal house. Bashundhara relief is of great help to me,” she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Upazila Chairman Humayun Reza said, “I tender my thanks and gratitude to the country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group for its food assistance to poor people amid the coronavirus pandemic.”
Mayor Md Matiur Rahman Khan, Rohanpur Police Investigation Centre In-charge and Inspector Asgor Ali, Shuvasangha Director Zakaria Jaman and Rohanpur Union Parishad Chairman Shah Al Shafi Ansari, among others, were present.
