Deputy Speaker of Parliament advocate Md Fazle Rabbi Miah is seriously ill. He is being airlifted to India through an air ambulance on Wednesday as his medical condition did not improve after treatment of more than two months in the country.
Fazle Rabbi Miah underwent a tumor operation on his abdomen in June, Parliament Secretariat officials said.
A medical board led by adviser and chief consultant surgeon of Labaid Hospital Dr Khademul Islam consulted the health issue of Fazle Rabbi Miah with foreign doctors and advised his family to take him abroad.
According to family sources, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chauhdury are regularly inquiring the health condition of Fazle Rabbi Miah.
Despite the Prime Minister's suggestion to take him to Singapore, it is not possible to take him there as air communication with the country is closed due to corona situation. Later, they decided to take him Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India, on the advice of specialist doctors there.
