Nineteen more patients died of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am on Monday raising the total number of casualties to 1,043 in Rangpur division.
"The overall Covid-19 situation is yet to start improving in all eight districts of the division," Focal Person of the Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.
The district-wise break up of the 1,043 fatalities stands at 237 in Rangpur, 65 in Panchagarh, 75 in Nilphamari, 57 in Lalmonirhat, 58 in Kurigram, 201 in Thakurgaon, 296 in Dinajpur and 54 in Gaibandha districts of the division.
"The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.14 percent in the division," Dr Siddiqui said.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 48,742 as 391 new patients were diagnosed after testing 1,150 samples of Rangpur division at the positivity rate of 25.54 percent on Sunday.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 24.48 percent on Saturday, 18.84 percent on Friday, 24.78 percent on Thursday, 30.44 percent on Wednesday and 32.07 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
"The district-wise break up of 48,742 infected patients stands at 11,051 in Rangpur, 3,101 in Panchagarh, 3,971 in Nilphamari, 2,438 in Lalmonirhat, 4,037 in Kurigram, 6,560 in Thakurgaon, 13,393 in Dinajpur and 4,191 in Gaibandha of the division," he said.
Meanwhile, the total number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 38,526 with recovery of 866 more infected patients on Sunday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 79.04 percent.
The 38,526 recovered patients include 7,906 of Rangpur, 2,103 Panchagarh, 3,300 Nilphamari, 1,961 Lalmonirhat, 3,060 Kurigram, 5,116 Thakurgaon, 12,088 in Dinajpur and 2,992 Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 48,742 infected patients, 492 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 24 critical patients at ICU beds and 11 at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 38,526 patients and 1,043 deaths while 9,003 are remaining in home isolation.
"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 14,13,155 and among them, 4,05,888 got the second dose of the jab till Sunday in the division," Dr Islam added.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged all for abiding by the health directives to contain as the Covid-19 positivity rate in the division.
