Educationalist Najma Chowdhury dies of Covid-19

The Ekushey Padak winning educationalist professor Nazma Chowdhury has died of Covid-19 at a hospital in the capital.

Nazma Chowdhury, who was emeritus professor of Dhaka University, breathed her last on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment.

Bushra Sultana, an associate professor at the Department of Women and Gender Studies at Dhaka University, confirmed her death.

Her namaz-e -janaza will be held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan after Asr prayers.

Nazma Chowdhury was the founder of the Department of Women and Gender Studies in the university.

She also served as an advisor to the caretaker government in 1996. In 2007, the University Grants Commission awarded her the ‘Rokeya Chair’.
