Bashundhara Group’s relief brings smiles to helpless people in Naogaon

Bashundhara Group, a leading business conglomerate of the country, brought joy to the underprivileged people in different upazilas of Naogaon by distributing relief on Thursday.

Poor families of Porsha, Sapahar, Manda and Niamatpur upazilas received the relief.

The Kaler Kantho, one of the reputed Bengali national dailies of Bashundhara Group, provided the relief through its social organisation Shuvasangha.

In Porsha upazila, Zillur Rahman aged more than 100 years is unable to speak and walk. But he managed to come to the Nithpur Govt Model High school and College field to receive relief. He was happy by receiving assistance as the Covid-19 pandemic has caused extreme hardship to people like Zillur Rahman. Shuvasangha distributed relief among 150 families in Nithpur Govt Model High school and College field and 100 families in Katipur Kalinagar High School compound.

Speaking on the occasion, Porsha UNO Nazmul Hamid Reza thanked Bashundhara Group for supporting the poor during the pandemic.

“No corporate house or organisation distributed relief in such a large scale like Bashundhara Group,” he said.

Shuvasangha director Zakaria Jaman, Naogaon correspondent of Kaler Kantho Faridul Karim, and its central committee member Sharif Mahadi Ashraf Jibon were also present at the event. 

In Sapahar, 250 poor families received relief from Shuvasangha at Sapahar Pilot High School.

Attending the programme, Upazila parishad chairman Shahjahan Hossain Mandal said “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stood beside vulnerable people amid pandemic. Bashundhara Group has also brought two lakh vulnerable people of the country under its relief scheme. It is the best job of the Group during this critical time of the country.” 

Shuvasangha director Zakaria Jaman, Sadar union parishad chairman Akbar Ali and upazila Awami League general secretary Masud Reza Sarwar attended the programme.

In Manda upazila, Shuvasangha distributed relief among 250 destitute families at Reba Akter Alim Madrasa field.

Naogaon SP Engineer Abdul Mannan Mia, senior ASP Md Matiar Rahman, Manda upazila chairman Molla Md Emdadul Haque, UNO Abu Bakkar Siddik, upazila vice-chairman Gautam Kumar Mahanta and Shuvasangha director Zakaria Jaman, were present on the occasion, among others.

In Niamatpur upazila, 250 distressed families received relief from Bashundhara Group at Niamatpur Bohumukhi Model High School.

Upazila chairman Farid Ahmed, UNO Joya Maria Perera, and Shuvasangha director Zakaria Jaman were present on the occasion.
