Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo on Thursday (Aug 5) observed the 72nd Birth Anniversary of Shahid Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with due solemnity.

The programme began with offering a special prayer in presence of Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed and all officials of the Embassy.

Terming Sheikh Kamal as the “ideal son of an ideal father, the Bangladesh envoy highlighted his vibrant life and works, especially his contribution in the liberation war and other movements, as a sportsman and organiser for the promotion of culture and sports.

He also mentioned examples of multitalented Sheikh Kamal including political wisdom, vision, and various initiatives for the post-war development of the country that he displayed in his short span of life.

Ambassador Ahmed remembered with deep sadness Bangamata Fazilatun Nessa Mujib and other members of the Father of the Nation who along with Sheikh Kamal embraced martyrdom on the fateful night of August 15, 1975.

Deputy Chief of Mission, Shah Asif Rahman also took part in the open discussion on the contribution of Shahid Kamal in sports arena.  A documentary was screened highlighting the life sketch of Sheikh Kamal.
