Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested so-called DJ party organiser Sharful Hasan alias Mishu Hasan along with a firearm and huge Yaba pills from the city’s Vatara area.
During a raid on a house on Tuesday night, a team of RAB-1 and Intelligence Wing of the RAB headquarters also arrested Mishu’s associate Masudul Islam alias Jisan, 39.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director (Legal and Media Wing) of the RAB headquarters, briefed reporters at his office on Wednesday on the matter.
The officer said they had intelligence information that immoral acts were being carried out in the name of DJ parties in Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani and other parts of the city. As per the information, the members of the force raided the house at Vatara and arrested Mishu, 31, and his associate, he said.
Al Moin also said they were the members of an organised gang, which has also about 10 other members.
According to the RAB officer, they arranged so-called DJ parties in the posh areas—Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara—where drugs were available to be taken and other immoral acts were done.
They took huge money from participants, who were from rich families, of the parties. About 15-20 participants took part in each DJ party, he said.
They secretly filmed sensational scenes of the participants and later blackmailed them, he said.
The huge money the criminals earned through the so-called DJ parties was invested in different kinds of businesses—such as dairy farm and car trade, in their names and other people’s names.
Mishu Hasan used luxurious cars. He has five luxurious cars. He also committed irregularities in importing cars from abroad.
Mishu is wanted in several cases. Earlier, he was arrested three times. He maintained contact with many most wanted criminals. Jisan has a dairy farm in Pabna in which he was rearing American Brahman cows, which have no permission to be brought up.
Mishu is the son of Neamat Ullah of Maijdee in Noakhali while Jisan is the son of Rafiqul Islam of Shalgari in Pabna.
