‘The Secret Art of the Mysterious Artist’ at Mrinmoy Art Gallery

A solo exhibition titled ‘The Secret Art of the Mysterious Artist’ by Shafiqul Islam is underway at Mrinmoy Art Gallery

The exhibition began on July 16 and it was inaugurated by the artist’s wife, Nilufa Akhter. Family members, Faizus Masum, Nawrin Islam and Sanjida Pinky, alongside Sameena M Karim, the Founder of Mrinmoy Art Gallery, Jahed Ali Chowdhury, Professor of Fine Arts Institute, were present, among others at the inaugural ceremony.

“Shafiqul Islam has left behind numerous masterpieces and this exhibition unravels his unique creations,” said Sameena M Karim. “I am blessed to be a part of this tribute.”
 “Professor Shafiqul Islam Sir left us in 2018. Since then, Mrinmoy Art Gallery has decided to hold this exhibition as it will enable many artists, art teachers, students, art lovers and people to know and learn from his works.

After the Liberation War, Shafiqul Islam, Professor of Fine Arts and Craft, University of Chattogram (CU), was the first solo art exhibitioner of Bangladesh.

“My father was always immersed in his artworks, his entire life,” said his son Faizus Masum. “All his love and focus are devoted into his arts”, he added.

Sponsored by Berger Paints and BSRM, 57 of the artist’s selected artworks are being showcased at the exhibition.

Began on July 16, the exhibition will remain open for all till August 15 and also available online for art lovers on Mrinmoy gallery's official Facebook page.
