The ailing lawmaker of Comilla-7 (Chandina) constituency Professor Ali Ashraf is put on life support at Square Hospital in the capital.

 Ali Ashraf's personal assistant Jasim Uddin told journalists this evening, saying that his (Ashraf's) physical condition has been critical since this morning.

He was admitted to the hospital on July 9 last, said Jasim Uddin.

The 74-year-old Professor Ali Ashraf was elected Member of Parliament (MP) five times from Cumilla constituency.

In 2001, he was elected Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad.
