Covid-19: Country witnesses 204 deaths, 8,498 cases of infections

Bangladesh on Saturday recorded 204 deaths and 8,498 cases of infections from coronavirus or Covid-19.

The deaths and infections were registered in the last 24 hours, according to a press notification issued by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Till date, some 17,669 people died of Covid-19 and some 10,92,411 people diagnosed with the virus in the country.

Earlier on Friday, 187 people died of Covid-19 . The country saw  226 deaths on Thursday and 210 Covid-19 deaths on Wednesday. Some 203 people died on Tuesday, 220 on Monday and a record 230 on Sunday. On July 7, for the first time in the country, the number of deaths from corona in one day exceeded 200 as 201 people died on this day.

According to DGHS, some 8,820 people have recovered from corona infection in the past 24 hours. With this, the number of people recovered from Covid-19 is 9,23,163. Some 29,214 samples out of 30,015 were tested across the country during this period.

The infection rate is 29.06 percent compared to the tests. So far, the country saw tests of 72,15,581 samples.  The infection rate is 15.14 percent compared to the total test.

It is learnt that 82 people died of coronavirus in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours. In addition, 49 people died in Khulna, 32 in Chattogram, 20 in Rajshahi, five in Barishal, two in Sylhet, 10 in Rangpur and four died in Mymensingh.
