DU Prof Emeritus Abdul Matin dies of Covid-19

Abdul Matin, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy of Dhaka University, passed away at a hospital in the capital on Friday morning.

The 87-year-old noted educationist was suffering from coronavirus or Covid-19.

DU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Emeritus Abdul Matin.

In a message of condolence, the Vice-Chancellor said, Professor Abdul Matin was a renowned philosopher and researcher. He was honest, humble, and a gentleman.

Possessing a basic philosophical thought, this gifted teacher used to feed new thoughts and ideas to the teachers and students in teaching and research on philosophy.

He wrote several books of poetry and many basic research books on philosophy. He will be remembered for his outstanding contributions to the practice and research of philosophy.

Professor Akhtaruzzaman prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved members of the family.
