Peshawar Qaumi Jirga on Sunday announced to march on the Wapda House to protest unprecedented electricity load-shedding in the city.
A meeting of the Jirga, chaired by its president Khalid Ayub, decided to besiege the Wapda House at 2pm on today (Monday) as a protest against the hours-long power loadshedding.The meeting attended by former provincial ministers, members provincial assembly (MPAs) and trade leaders including Amanullah Haqqani, Kashif Azam, Alamgir Khalil, Atifur Rahman, Ziaullah Afridi, Arbab Khyzer Hayat, Arbab Muhammad Tahir, Shabir Khalil, Ishfaq Khalil, Mujeebur Rahman, Haji Muhammad Afzal, Zafar Khattak, Khalid Gul Mohmand, Habibullah Zahid, Baz Muhammad Shaheen, Haji Noor Muhammad, Haroon Khan and Nawaz Lala decided that people from various walks of life would march on the Wapda House and lock its gate.
They said the government had failed to provide relief to the masses and besides other problems, people had got fed up with the hours-long power outages. They said Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) was carrying out load-shedding for hours in this scorching heat. The Jirga would rise for the rights of people of the provincial capital, they added.
