Kamrangirchar explosion: Minor burn victim dies at SHNIBPS

A minor, who suffered burn injuries in an autorickshaw battery blast in Dhaka’s Kamrangirchar area early Friday, died at a hospital in the capital on Wednesday morning.

Ayesha, 5, with 42% burns, breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the high dependency unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) at 7:00am.

The institute’s Resident Surgeon Dr Partha Shankar Paul, confirmed the matter.

Earlier on July 10, the Ayesha’s parents, Yasmin Akter, 35, and Abdul Matin, 40, also died from burn injuries over 90%.

The explosion occurred at a two-storey building in the Kazi Alley area of Sylhetbazar around 4 am on Friday.

Matin was charging the battery on his autorickshaw when it exploded, sparking a fire on the lower floor of the building, said Kamrangirchar Police Inspector Mostofa Anwar.
