The infection rate of Covid-19 has recorded 37.39 percent in the district. This is the ever-highest infection rate in the district after the outbreak of corona in the country.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases crossed the 62,000 mark in the district.
Health officials said the number of COVID-19 cases speedily raised to 62,200 as 611 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 1631 samples on Tuesday in the district.“The infection rate is showing a quick enhancing trend again and recovery rate is also gradually reducing continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Focal Person of COVID-19 Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.
The health experts of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks.
Among the newly detected patients, 465 are from Chattogram city and 146 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
With the four deaths on Tuesday, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 735, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.
Among the reported fatalities, 484 were the residents of the port city and the rest 247 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.
Civil surgeon told BSS that among the total infected persons, 48,295 are the residents of the port city and the rest 13,905 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 50,335 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 135 more patients on Tuesday,” Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 80.92.
A total of 6760 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
