Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director General Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam has said more than 50 percent of coronavirus or Covid-19 infected people are from rural areas of the country are now receiving treatment at different hospitals in the country.
He came up with the information while talking to journalists after a meeting on Monday.Prof Abul Bashar said, “I have talked to officers and physicians of 45 upazila health complexes for over three hours and learnt that most of the patients are from villages of the country. The patients are coming to hospitals after long time of their infection and when they are in critical stage.”
“Rainy season is going on. Many people assume that they are suffering from common cold-fever or cough despite having their Covid-19 infection. In such a way, they are not coming under tests for Covid-19 or refraining from doctor's advice. We have advised field level health workers to do miking in the villages and also asked them to look for the patient at homes, ” he also said.
