Bangladesh on Sunday reported highest-ever 153 coronavirus or Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Earlier on July 1, some 143 Covid-19 deaths were recorded, the second highest since the pandemic began in the country in March last year.The number of total deaths from Covid-19 now stands at 15, 065
This is for the eighth consecutive day that the country witnessed over 100 deaths from the virus.
Besides, 8,661 new cases of infection were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Khulna division for the ninth day in a row recorded the country's highest number of deaths with 51 people died there.
The current positivity rate is 28.99 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.05 percent.
A total of 29,879 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.At least 4,698 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 833,897 and the recovery rate at 88.25 percent.
