A motorcyclist was killed and his pillion injured after their bike collided with a battery-run van in capital’s Paribagh area early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mohiuddin, 30, an employee of a shop at Gausia Market.
The battery-run van collided with the motorcycle when Mohiuddin along with his friend went out of his Kamrangirchar home with the bike during the "strict lockdown" in the area around 1:30am, leaving them seriously injured, said Champak Chakraborty, a sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station.
Pedestrians took them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared Mohiuddin dead around 2:30am, the police officer said.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy, he said.
