Bangladesh Football Federation on Friday temporarily suspended Bangladesh Premier League and
Bangladesh Championship League matches due to hostile weather and inappropriate pitch.
“The rest of the matches of Premier League 2020-21 and Championship League 2020-21 have been suspended from July 2 taking into consideration the weather forecast and the pitch report. New fixtures will be published soon”, the federation said in a press release.
BPL, which resumed on June 26 after over a month break for the international window, was taking place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium while the Birshrestha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur was hosting BCL matches.
However, heavy rains and mud made both pitches inappropriate for hosting any match. The fresh
fixtures are yet to be published.
Earlier, BFF on Wednesday suspended Women’s Football League and Third Division Football League due to the seven-day nationwide lockdown. Both leagues were taking place in Kamalapur.
