Farmers of litchi in Jammu district are full of enthusiasm as the crop has proven to be more profitable. The farmers has so far gain more income and profits compared to the past years. Horticulture department have supported them by providing subsidies thus aiding in the maximization of the profits gained.Due to the provision of subsidies by the government many villagers have opted for litchi and fruit farming. The government in partnership with horticulture planning and marketing department took the effort of training farmers on packing, grading and finding the potential markets for their produce.
According to one of the farmer Virender Sharma, fruit and litchi farming has really helped them this in turn has led to the improvement of their lives. The farmers further confirmed that this kind of farming is more profitable as it is only planted once as compared to paddy plant which is supposed to be planted every six months. "Another added benefit is that it is a one time investment" he said.
