A top official of Bangladesh Football Federation on Monday said that they asked permission from the concerned authority to continue their ongoing leagues during the all-out lockdown, which will come into effect from Thursday.
BFF is currently running four domestic leagues -- premier, championship, third division and women's league.“We asked the permission of the concerned authority and law-enforcement agencies. We must finish the league as per the schedule because the next season will start in September. Also, we have AFC Cup, Asian Cup qualifiers,” BFF Senior Vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy informed.
“Last year, we had to abandon the leagues. If the same thing happens this year, the players and clubs will face hard situations. Again, if we fail to complete the leagues, AFC will temporarily stop their financial support.
“We have taken proper health measures and all of the matches are taking place at a centralized venue. So, there will be no problem to continue the league in lockdown,” he added.
