Coming down heavily on BNP leaders’ comments, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said the word ‘fleeing’ revolves around the mind of BNP secretary general as the acting chairman of their party is absconding.
“BNP’s such statements sound like a joke. The secretary general of the party, whose acting chairman has fled abroad on a bond that he will never do politics, might have said about it in fear of fleeing himself as the word 'absconding' revolves in his mind,” he said.
He added: BNP itself always wants to remain in dark, as they do not want to see the light and they are constantly being plunged deep into darkness.
The minister stated these while replying to a query of a newsman at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat in the capital.
Replying to another question over the BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia’s treatment issue, Hasan said she (Begum Zia) received proper treatment in the country. If Begum Zia didn’t receive proper treatment, then she would not be able to go back home, he added.
But it seems that the BNP leaders would not like the return of Begum Zia to home after getting proper treatment, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.
He said it is an advantage for them to do politics if she (Begum Zia) stays in hospital.
The minister said the countrymen didn’t forget the mayhem carried out by BNP in 2013, 2014 and 2015 in the name of movements.
Sharply criticising another comment of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir over the yesterday’s blast, he said in the primary investigation it was revealed that the incident took place when a gas cylinder exploded. It was an accident, said Hasan.
