Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed on Monday said they would form a probe body to investigate Sunday's explosion in Dhaka's Moghbazar that killed at least seven persons and injured 66.
Benazir came up with the announcement after visiting the site this morning.Mentioning that the committee will work with the fire service to try to find out the reason behind such incidents, Benazir said that they do not want recurrence of such incidents.
Replying to a query whether it is an act of sabotage, the IGP said the explosion caused destruction in a single direction. In case of any blast caused by bomb or explosive, it normally causes destruction in at least three to four directions. Besides, police did not yet find anything except shattered glasses from the spot. Besides, there is smell of mytheme gas inside. So primarily it can say that it is not an act of sabotage.
“But we have to wait a day or two until experts give an opinion,” he said.
