Archery WC Stage 3: Recurve mixed team eliminated

Bangladesh archery recurve mixed team were eliminated from the recurve mixed team event of the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Paris on Thursday.

Bangladesh mixed team comprising of Ruman Shana and Diya Siddique suffered a defeat to the Czech Republic by 1-5 set points.

The men’s team will play against the USA in the recurve men’s team event at 01:15pm (BST) while the women’s team will take on Mexico in their pre-quarterfinal of the recurve women’s team event at 02:00pm today.

Earlier on Wednesday, the men and women archery recurve teams advanced to pre-quarters (round of 8) in the respective events after making early exits from the individual events.

The men's team comprising of Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ram Krishna Saha beat the Turkish team comprising of AK Samet, Aydin Ali And Gazoz Mete by 5-3 set points in the first round of elimination phase after placing second in the ranking round.

The women's team comprising of Mahanaz Akter Monera, Nasrin Akter and Diya Siddique beat Slovenia team comprising of Urska Cavic, Spela Fers and Ana Umer by 6-0 set points in the first round of elimination phase after securing top position in the ranking round.

In the men’s individuals, Ram Krishna eliminated from pre-quarters (round of 8) after conceding a 2-6 set points defeat to Brazilian archer D’Almeida Marcus. The Bangladeshi archer beat Kazakhstan archer Mussayev Sanzhar by 6-4 set points in the first round (round of 48), Spanish archer Castro Daniel by 6-2 set points in the second round (round of 24) and Slovenian archer Strajhar Gasper by 6-2 set points in the third round (round of 16).                     

Shana was eliminated from the first round after conceding a 2-6 set points defeat to Brazilian archer Oliveira Bernardo, Rubel eliminated after conceding a 1-7 set points defeat to India archer Atanu Das and Alif Abdur Rahman eliminated after conceding a 5-6 set points defeat to Dutch archer Van Den Berg Sjef.

In women’s individuals, Monera conceded a 2-6 set defeats points to Italian archer Rebagliati Chiara, Diya conceded a 3-7 set points defeat to Czech  archer Horackova Marie, Beauty Ray conceded a 2-6 set points defeat to Russian archer Stepanova Inna and Nasrin conceded a 2-6 set points defeat to Kazakh  Bannova Anastassiya.
