Bangladesh men’s and women’s recurve teams advanced to pre-quarters (round of 8) in their respective events in the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Paris on Wednesday.
The men's team comprising Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ram Krishna Saha beat Turkish team comprising AK Samet, Aydin Ali and Gazoz Mete by 5-3 set points in the first round of elimination phase after placing second in the ranking round.
They will now play against the USA comprising Ellison Brady, Williams Jack and Wukie Jacob in the pre-quarters.
The women's team comprising Mahanaz Akter Monera, Nasrin Akter and Diya Siddique beat Slovenia team comprising Urska Cavic, Spela Fers and Ana Umer by 6-0 set points in the first round of elimination phase after securing top position in the ranking round.
They will now face Mexico comprising Roman Aida, Valencia Alejandra and Vazquez Ana in the pre-quarters.
In the men’s individuals, Ram Krishna suffered elimination from pre-quarters (round of 8) after conceding a 2-6 setpoints defeat to Brazilian archer D’Almeida Marcus.
The Bangladeshi archer earlier beat Kazakhstan archer Mussayev Sanzhar by 6-4 set points in the first round (round of 48) while he defeated Spanish archer Castro Daniel by 6-2 set points in the second round (round of 24) and Slovenian archer Strajhar Gasper by 6-2 set points in the third round (round of 16).
The country’s celebrated archer Shana was eliminated from the first round after conceding a 2-6 setpoints defeat to Brazilian archer Oliveira Bernardo.
Rubel got eliminated after conceding a 1-7 setpoints defeat to Indian archer Atanu Das and Alif Abdur Rahman was eliminated after conceding a 5-6 setpoints defeat to Dutch archer Van Den Berg Sjef.
In women’s individuals, Monera conceded a 2-6 set points defeat to Italian archer Rebagliati Chiara.
Diya conceded a 3-7 setpoints defeat to Czech archer Horackova Marie while Beauty Ray conceded a 2-6 setpoints defeat to Russian archer Stepanova Inna and Nasrin conceded a 2-6 setpoints defeat to Kazakh Bannova Anastassiya.
