Fire service and civil defence divers on Wednesday morning recovered the body of a 21- year old youth, who went missing after falling into Jhilpar canal in the capital’s Khilgaon area on Tuesday morning, a day after his missing.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hossain.

Abdul Mannan, stations officer of Khilgaon Fire Statio, said that the fire service divers found the body one kilometer away from the place where he fell around 9:00am.

The incident took place when the youth was collecting discarded bottles from the canal around 9:30am on Tuesday, he said.

Fire service divers continued their drives since Abul went missing, he said.

A process is underway to hand over the body to Khilgaon police, Mannad added.
