Less than 1 hospital bed allocated against 1,000 patients in country: Report

 

The number of beds in the country’s government hospitals is abnormally low with less than one bed is against 1,000 patients, says a report.

About 0.32 bed is allocated for every 1,000 patients in public hospitals while the number .64 in private hospitals, according to survey report by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

Total number of beds both in government and private hospitals are only 0.98 as against 1,000 people.

The survey conducted the survey from May 21 of 2019 to May 13 of 2021.

 World Health Organisation guideline requires 350 beds to be allocated for every 1,000 people.
