UP polls: Elderly man killed during clash at Barishal’s Gaurnadi

An elderly man was shot dead and at least three others were injured during a clash between two rival groups in Gaurnadi upazila of Barishal on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Moujali Mridha, 60.

The injured are identified as Idris Hawlader, 40, Nuru Mridha, 40 and Imran Mridha. Of them, Idris was admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

The incident took place between the supporters of the member candidate Firoz Mridha and his rival Montu Hawladar at Kamalapur Government Primary School Centre in Khanjapur union around 12:15 pm.

Additional Superintendent of Police Abdur Rab Hawladar of Gaurnadi Circle confirmed the matter.

On information, members of police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
