The country’s life expenditure has boosted by 6.88 percent being highest in last three years amid Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
It is said by Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) at a press conference on Wednesday. CAB President Golam Rahman spoke on the occasion.Meanwhile, prices of goods and services have hiked by 6.31 percent.
Like every year, this cost has been calculated excluding education, medical and actual travel expenses.
Incomes of the lower and lower middle class people have fallen sharply amid pandemic, the highest amount of expenditure in three years has increased in 2020. The price of rice has gone up abnormally.
At the end of 2020, hike in rice prices could not be controlled during the season full of Aman paddy. As a result, the average price of rice has increased by about 20 percent in 2020 compared to 2019.
Prices of pulses, spices, vegetables, beef, fish, house rent, WASA water and electricity have shot up.
Income fall coupled with price hike of essential food items caused suffering to the people.
