12 more die at RMCH Covid unit in 24 hours

Twelve more persons died at the coronavirus unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) over 24 hours till 8:00am on Tuesday.

With this, the district's Covid-19 and suspected death toll climbed to 198 since May 24.

Of them, eight were Covid-19 positive while the rest had symptoms, the sources said.

Three of the deceased were from Rajshahi district, while seven from Chapainawabganj, one from Natore and Naogaon districts each.

According to the RMCH authority, 58 new patients admitted in the last 24 hours. Among them, 39 are from Rajshahi, 8 from Chapainawabganj, four from Natore, five from Naogaon and two from Kushtia.

At present, a number of 325 Covid-19 patients are receiving treatment in RMCH against 273 beds available.

The infection rate in Rajshahi yesterday was 30.17 percent, it was 22.23 percent in Chapainawabganj, and 48.87 percent in Naogaon.
