Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said the proposed budget is being praised by all section of people.
“The government placed Tk 6.03 trillion budget amid the pandemic crisis. The proposed budget is being lauded by people from all walks of life,” he said.Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said this while addressing the inauguration function of member collection drive by Dhaka north city AL at its headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
The minister came up with the remarks as Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the budget of Tk 6.03 trillion for the 2021-22 fiscal year before parliament on Thursday.
Quader said the government placed the budget by giving priority to social protection, lives and livelihood as it expanded the social safety net programme.
“This budget is realistic, business and investment-friendly with ensuring participation of common people. That’s why the proposed budget is being lauded by all section of people,” he said.
“This year’s budget has been prepared keeping in mind the people of all walks of life, especially the poor and working people,” he added.
Replying to an allegation of Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Quader said the BNP is talking nonsense.Talking over increase of aspirants in by-polls to three constituencies in Dhaka-14, Cumilla-5 and Sylhet-3, the AL general secretary said the number of aspirants has increased as the BNP has decided to refrain from participating in the by-polls.
“Dedicated and tested aspirants who have popularity and acceptance will be given nominations in these constituencies,” he said.
Referring to the AL member collection drive, Quader urged all to run the drive by maintaining health guidelines.
“There is no room for inducting extortionists, terrorists, land-grabbers, and drug addicts. Besides, anti-liberation forces cannot be made member of the party,” he added.
AL office secretary Biplab Barua and Dhaka city north chapter general secretary SM Mannan Kochi, among others, addressed the programme with Dhaka city north president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman in the chair.
